Ozark Turtle, Straw-Ana or James Brownie Funky Jackhammer...no, not the names of the latest dance craze. These are the top three custard “concrete” delights available at Andy’s Frozen Custard in Branson.
Located on West Highway 76 at the Track #4 and across from the Jim Stafford Theatre, Andy’s is a family-friendly business serving up delicious, custom desserts that are enjoyed year-round. Seasonal favorites such as the Pumpkin Pie Concrete in the fall, Candy Cane Concrete in the winter, and fresh berry concretes each season help customers celebrate the unique bountiful seasons of this wonderful destination. When in Branson, Andy’s is a necessary stop to experience the famous Ozark Turtle. Imagine rich, creamy frozen custard made fresh within the hour, dripping with hot fudge and caramel and crowned with fresh roasted pecans.
Andy’s is not your average dessert shop. From custom custard machines to ordering the finest ingredients direct from the producers, to preparing the product with precision and care, Andy’s operates with great attention to detail and a focus on two founding principles: Serve a great product with great service; And, do it fast! Andy’s Frozen Custard is made fresh hourly and served at its peak flavor to ensure the best quality for every customer. The location itself is an experience...a fun atmosphere with lights, music and a great patio for gathering with friends and family. You can even watch the custard being made!
Founded by John and Carol Kuntz in 1986 at Osage Beach, the company soon expanded to Springfield, Missouri and with that, the legacy was born. Word of their custard spread throughout the region and so did the business. For Andy Kuntz, the company’s namesake and President/CEO, frozen custard is a family affair. “My parents started the business thinking ahead for their son and included me in every step along the way.”
Andy spent his early years learning the business in the Springfield store and working alongside his high school sweetheart and now wife, Dana. “We continue to follow the principles my parents established in hopes that our famous custard legacy will continue for generations to come. Our core beliefs about serving great product and taking care of customers remain the same.” Andy said. “Until about five years ago, I was working six days a week at the counter. I remain hands-on in our stores as much as possible. I do miss making the product. We all have a tremendous passion for it. My mother still works in the Branson store a couple of times a week. She loves the people and she is really the heartbeat of the business.”
