Branson’s Outback Steak & Oyster Bar has been delivering great food and an authentic Aussie experience for over 20 years. This is the original Outback, unique in its cuisine, atmosphere and authenticity.
It was 1987 when Steve and Linda Wood enjoyed dinner in Springfield and began to discuss the need for a fun, relaxing place to eat in Branson. The discussion grew into a plan for a themed restaurant, which several concepts later became the Australian motif recognized by thousands today. Branson’s Outback Steak & Oyster Bar opened on Labor Day, 1988. The restaurant opened before the Outback chain was launched, and has always remained individual and unique. “We offer an expanded selection of entrées in a relaxed atmosphere,” said Aaron Neubauer, General Manager. Known for the “best steak in the state of Missouri,” the restaurant remains an Ozarks favorite.
From the entrées to the decor, the Outback offers uncommon fun. Steve and Linda even traveled to Australia to purchase authentic accessories for the restaurant, which they decorated and designed themselves. With delicious delicacies like Melbourne Mixed Grill, a classic Australian combo of quail, lamb chops and New Zealand Red Deer; Dundee’s Rack of New Zealand lamb; Aussie Bush Bucket, with shrimp, crab, mussels, crawfish, snagger, corn and potatoes; a variety of fish and shrimp; and mouth-watering steaks, you will leave satisfied and longing to return. Some entrées are even tailor-made for Sheilas or Blokes, and youngsters have a Joey menu.
True entrepreneurs, Steve and Linda opened the Outback Outfitters clothing store in 1989 as they expanded the Aussie complex. In late 1998, the “Outfitters” was converted to the Outback Pub, while the Outback Roadhouse Motel & Suites opened the same year behind the restaurant.
The Pub offers a cozy tavern atmosphere, with couches, fireplaces and live entertainment inside and outside on the covered veranda. Open daily, it features hot sandwiches, burgers, pastas, soups and salads, and over 100 different beers. House specialties, served Monday-Friday, feature custom cuisine created from Outback’s own recipes.
The Outback Roadhouse Motel & Suites, open year-round, has 53 units, 10 of them suites. Each Australian-themed room is unique and individually appointed. Every Aussie detail makes it inviting and cozy. “Our visitors will enjoy a comfortable yet memorable stay here,” Aaron noted. “We offer a resort experience at a motel price.” Another treat is the outdoor pavilion, with barbeque grill, pool, sauna and hot tub. “We are conveniently located on the strip, yet the motel offers a secluded atmosphere set in the woods,” Aaron added.
Branson’s original Outback is open year-round and is located a “boomerang’s throw from the 76 strip.” |
