During World War II, the British trawler H.M.S. Bedfordshire was assigned to the U.S. Navy. On May 11, 1942, it was torpedoed and destroyed by a German sub. The entire crew was lost. Four bodies were recovered and buried at this site. An annual ceremony is held in May to honor the fallen soldiers. Free.
