Welcome to one of Ocracoke's most charming old Island homes. The Thurston House, constructed in the early 1920's, was the home of an Ocracoke native guide Captain Tony Thurston Gaskill for over 75 years. It is now on the Register of Historic Places in North Carolina.
In 1996, Capt. Thurston's Granddaughter, Marlene and her husband, Randal Mathews, renovated the house and opened the bed & breakfast. In 1999, they added an addition, and in 2006 newly remodeled upscale guestrooms.
The Thurston House is open March 2, 2007 - Jan 2, 2008 and Will re-open Mid-March 2008. We are centrally located in Ocracoke Village within walking distance to the Lighthouse, shops and restaurants. The Thurston House Inn is within biking distance of the Ocean and airport pickup is available with advance notice.
