Golf fans can expect a star-studded lineup of professional golfers and celebrities to tee it up April 13 in the 15th Hootie & The Blowfish Monday After The Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament. Again this year, the event is being held at the sensational Dye Course at Barefoot Resort, North Myrtle Beach.
Widely considered to be one of the most popular celebrity tournaments in the country, golf will be followed by a “Hootie & Friends” concert at the nearby House of Blues.
LPGA Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam, professional wrestling legend Ric Flair and former Pittsburgh Steeler running back Jerome Bettis will participate in this year's event. Previous tournaments have included the likes of golfers Craig Stadler, Arnold Palmer and Fred Couples; former NFL stars Sterling Sharpe, Dwight Clark, and George Rogers; singers Steve Azar, Meatloaf and Johnny Lee; ESPN’s Stuart Scott and Mike Tirico; and many others. Organizers expect another stellar group this year.
Last year’s tournament drew more than 6,000 spectators - the third sell-out in a row - to watch the friendly competition and catch a close-up glimpse of big-name celebrities.
The concert following the day’s golf will be an event in its own right! At past concerts, members of REM, Bon Jovi, Sister Hazel, and Edwin McCain have joined the members of two-time Grammy award-winning Hootie & The Blowfish on stage for an unforgettable night of music and fun. There will also be a silent auction of celebrity memorabilia, also to benefit charity.
Going into its 15th year, the tournament has donated millions of dollars to the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation and the Hootie and the Blowfish Foundation, which supports the educational needs of South Carolina.
