When you’ve had enough of the salt and sand but you don’t want to get out of the water, head on over to Myrtle Waves Waterpark. Just minutes away, it’s the coolest place on the beach!
The Carolinas’ largest waterpark, Myrtle Waves has 20 acres of swerves, curves, waves and chutes, all swirling with more than a million gallons of cool, clear water. There are rides and attractions suitable for all ages and plenty of poolside lounge chairs for when you simply want to relax. It’s oceans of fun for the entire family!
You can’t miss the Caribbean-themed Saturation Station. This interactive play adventure is a colorful island of splashes, squirts, slides and waterfalls, complete with monkeys swinging from palm trees, brightly plumed parrots, and more. It’s anchored by a 700-gallon volcano that erupts water and soaks visitors every 6-8 minutes. There are also slides, bridges, watershooters and fountains.
Enjoy the pleasures of the ocean without the sand in Myrtle Waves’ Ocean in Motion wave pool! Splash in the surf or ride the waves as wave generators create up to 8 kinds of waves in water up to 6 feet deep. Waves up to 4 feet tall are generated in timed intervals in the 20,000-square-foot pool.
For the ride of your life, try the Turbo Twister! After a 10-story climb to the top of the world’s tallest tubular slides, you’ll plunge through the darkness of the enclosed tubes at a thrilling 50 feet per second. This one’s not for the faint of heart! Or stop halfway up and hop on the Riptide Rockets. These side-by-side slides will send you airborne before the final splashdown!
When it’s time to relax, climb aboard a single or double tube and take a ride along the LayZee River. Floating at a leisurely 3mph, it’s the perfect way to spend a hot Myrtle Beach day. Or try the Bubble Bay leisure pool lined with water umbrellas and bubble jets.
Other rides include Racin’ River, a 10mph river that’s navigated with skimmer boards; Super Chute, a 4-foot drop into 8 feet of water; Snake Mountain, three serpentine inner tube slides; and Thunderbolts, a smaller version of Riptide Rockets. There are 30 rides and attractions in all.
All that activity is bound to make you hungry, but there’s no need to leave the park. Myrtle Waves’ restaurants offer pizza, funnel cakes, ice cream and more. The park is equipped with showers and changing facilities, and locker rentals are available. Shaded pavilions are ideal for group outings and picnics.
