Ahoy, mateys! Come aboard and join the fun at the Jolly Roger Amusement Park’s two locations – 30th Street and Coastal Highway, and the Pier at the southernmost end of town! The Jolly Roger’s five parks in one make it the best entertainment value at the beach, according to the Cap’n, er, General Manager Steve Pastusak. In addition to the amusement parks, there is the Splash Mountain water park, SpeedWorld, with its 10 go-kart tracks, and a choice of two mini-golf courses.
Pastusak’s crew has been swabbing the decks all winter and adding even more fun rides and features to the amusement park just for your enjoyment.
An Ocean City landmark for decades, Jolly Roger is still growing and changing with the times, according to Pastusak, who’s been around the business his whole life – starting out working a game on the Pier. New this year are a giant Ferris wheel at 30th Street – matching the size of the Ferris wheel at the Pier – and a new ride at Splash Mountain. The Ragin’ Raft Ride is a fun, “family-style” raft ride, featuring a four-person tube.
Splash Mountain, Delmarva’s largest water park, also includes the exciting Eye of the Hurricane and awesome Stealth Mark III, a 45-foot-tall half-pipe slide, as well as the Lazy River, a leisurely 1,000 foot float, and the popular six-lane Super Racer – the first of its kind in Maryland. “We’re very proud of our water park,” Pastusak says. SpeedWorld’s newly reconfigured Family Le Mans track now includes two-seater cars and a gentler track – making it suitable for a wider range of riders, Pastusak says. The change makes it possible for younger children to ride the go-karts – those who are too small to drive can now experience the fun with an older driver.
Long known as the quintessential Ocean City experience, the Pier now boasts “Ocean City’s most thrilling ride,” according to Pastusak. Riders on the Slingshot soar 140 feet in the air – an experience they won’t soon forget!
Pastusak says savvy vacationers know Jolly Roger offers great deals for families – including the Passport to Fun, which allows visitors to use points on anything within the five parks. An added bonus – the points never expire! A “Splash and Ride” combo pass offers an all-day pass at Splash Mountain, unlimited rides at the Park or the Pier, and mini-golf passes as well.
Online ordering allows visitors on a budget to stretch their vacation dollars, since they can purchase passes at a discount well before their vacations, Pastusak said.
