Area Features
Celebrate the Arts

Artists have always been drawn to islands, and the Outer Banks is no exception. Inspired by the area’s natural beauty, hundreds of writers, sculptors, musicians, performers, painters, jewelry designers, printmakers, textile designers, photographers, and other creative souls live and work on these narrow sands.

Their work can be found in the many galleries located on the Outer Banks. Take some time to browse and explore the wonderful works of art found here!

The galleries on the island come in various shapes and sizes, each featuring a great variety of art. Many galleries are owned by the artists themselves; others are owned by purveyors of art who were or still are avid collectors turned curators; others simply love purchasing art for resale.

Since 1975, the Dare County Arts Council and its member artists have cultivated the arts in Dare County in many ways. Be sure to stop by the Dare County Arts Council, which features the work of local member artists on a rotating basis, in downtown Manteo.

The Events page contains DCAC and other exciting upcoming cultural events. The Dare County Arts Council maintains a list of upcoming cultural art events. For updated information, call 252-473-5558 or visit www.darearts.org.
