Harpoon Hanna’s Restaurant in Fenwick Island has been a fixture at the beach for more than 25 years. Not only tremendous food quality and service but also dedicated management has been the key to the success of Harpoon Hanna’s.
Owner/Manager Wes Hanna, General Manager James “Luke” Lucas, Assistant General Manager Thomas Ogilvie and Bar Manager Ben Bucy have remained faithful to the vision of the restaurant’s founder, Frank Hanna (Wes’ father). Simply put, that’s great food, reasonable prices and an awesome waterfront location.
Wes started washing dishes at his dad’s restaurant at 14. After working his way up the ladder, Wes honed his restaurant management skills at the University of Delaware and has shown his knowledge to be very beneficial in the continuing growth of Harpoon Hanna’s.
Lucas began his career at Harpoon Hanna’s as a bartender in 1993, becoming general manager in 2001. His determination in pleasing each and every customer shows day in and day out. Ogilvie joined the staff in 2002, and his overwhelming enthusiasm spills over to the customers and employees. Ben joined in 2007 and continued to grow with the team, helping to make their Tiki Bar one of the hottest outdoor bars at the beach.
“We’ve always been known as a family-oriented seafood restaurant,” Lucas says. He points proudly to Harpoon Hanna’s inclusion in the Top 100 Restaurants in the U.S., ranked by an association of independent restaurants.
Harpoon Hanna’s menu spotlights fresh fish daily, as well as favorites such as its Chesapeake Filet – a tender filet mignon topped with succulent crab imperial. All-you-can-eat Alaskan snow crab legs are another Harpoon Hanna’s specialty, as are tasty baby-back ribs. Harpoon Hanna’s famous coconut and blueberry muffins and fresh breads are unforgettably delicious. And landlubbers take note – Harpoon Hanna’s doesn’t just serve great seafood: All steaks and prime rib on the menu are Certified Angus Beef.

Harpoon Hanna’s Tiki Bar, accessible by boat, has been a popular nightspot for 10 years and remains the area’s only bayside bar. On Wednesdays, the restaurant hosts its Senior Deck Party, as well as its well-loved Hump Night Party – a Harpoon Hanna’s tradition dating back to its early days. Specialty drinks include the famous Hurricane Hanna.
