World-renowned fine art, a spectacular mansion, an exciting Circus Museum and a beautiful Italian theater await you and your family at The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota.
The Museum of Art was built by John Ringling specifically to house his collections of antiquities and paintings by master artists including Peter Paul Rubens, Velazquez and Van Dyck. Pieces from the internationally recognized museum have been displayed around the world at museums including the Louvre in Paris, the Tate in London and the Vatican Museum in Rome. The art galleries also exhibit exquisite Asian and American works.
The romance and luxury of the roaring 1920s are celebrated in the spectacular Cà d’Zan Mansion. This 32-room Venetian-style palazzo was a labor of love for John Ringling and his wife Mable and reflects their European tastes and passion for opulence.
The Circus Museum features the world’s largest miniature circus and the incredible Wisconsin railroad car that John and Mable Ringling used to travel around the country. Memorabilia including posters, photos, costumes and wagons make the circus come alive. It’s a wonder for children of all ages!
The Historic Asolo Theater is an 18th-century treasure in a 21st-century venue. The three-tiered, half-circle shaped jewel box of a theater is a work of art in its own right. It is said to be worth the price of admission simply to be seated.
No visit is complete without exploring the banyan trees and dwarf garden and rose gardens on the 66-acre estate on Sarasota Bay. |
