Does someone in your family enjoy watching Animal Planet or the National Geographic channel? Then RainForest Adventures is a must-see while in the Smokies.
Located at Stoplight 13.4 in Sevierville, RainForest Adventures has the widest range of species of any zoo in East Tennessee. The RainForest is open year-round; rain or shine it’s always 76 degrees inside the RainForest! Home to hundreds of amazing and unique live animals from around the world, you will be amazed as you turn every corner. Set up similar to a public aquarium, this incredible zoo is home to well over 100 species of animals. Focusing mainly on the tropical creatures, visitors will be face to face with crocodiles, beautiful tropical birds, giant pythons and a host of other fascinating animals. Have a look at the Australian Bearded Dragons, and frilled lizards! Crikey!!
RainForest has the distinct honor of housing two different species of lemurs from Madagascar; your family can meet “Zabu” in person! These beautiful and endangered species will steal your heart with their cute faces and incredible antics! Many of the species of mammals you will see at RainForest are creatures most people have never heard of (how about a genet, or a coatimundi?) Unique creatures from all of the major tropical and temperate forests of the world are featured at the RainForest.
The Aussie Walkabout exhibit features kangaroos, Aussie sheep for the kids to pet, as well as hundreds of birds flying free in a walk-through aviary. Tame goats will eat right from your hand; giant emu birds and lots of other surprises await you in the new exhibits at the RainForest.
For the intrepid explorer in the crowd there is a live show conducted at various times throughout the day. Entertaining zookeepers bring out some of the friendly creatures for a little one-on-one time with you, the guests! Don’t forget your cameras and video cameras for this unique experience; you will laugh and learn together as fact is often stranger than fiction with many of the inhabitants. The front row is for the brave souls, all the kids, or kids at heart!
