On the Boardwalk overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, The Old Coast Guard Station honors and preserves the history of Virginia’s coastal communities and maritime heritage. Visitors to the museum’s galleries are given a rare and thoughtful insight into the early days of shipwrecks and the U.S. Lifesaving/Coast Guard services. Visual exhibits of many of the over 600 shipwrecks along the city’s shoreline tell tales of bravery and disaster in the Shipwreck Gallery.
TowerCam will let you sight a ship on the horizon from their high-powered camera located in the museum’s tower and accessible on their website: www.oldcoastguardstation.com.
You will see exhibits for "Storm Warnings" to "Lifeguards –The Other Lifesavers" in the Changing Exhibits area.
