In Virginia Beach, you might spot a dolphin wearing a pink bikini, a top hat, or bright green and yellow feathers.
You won’t see these dolphins in the ocean, but thanks to A Dolphin’s Promise, a non-profit organization working with the city, hundreds of life-sized dolphin sculptures have been placed throughout the city to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation for Cancer Research. Ten percent goes to the Virginia Aquarium’s marine mammal rescue response team.
The dolphin sculptures are funded by individuals, groups, and businesses, and each is uniquely designed and decorated by artists who donate their time and talent. |
