Since 1952, the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia has been bringing culture to the beach in the form of exhibitions by national and international contemporary artists. This year, the CAC presents part of Art of Glass 2,
four exhibitions of contemporary glass art from April 24–August 23, 2009:
Hank Murta Adams: Raw renditions of figurative busts, wall murals and humorous canister figures all constructed from glass.
Dante Marioni – Form, Color, Pattern: Marioni’s work is known for its bright, cheerful color combined with formally fabricated vessels, cups, bowls and vases.
Ashes to Ashes – Life and Death in Contemporary Glass: Works by several notable contemporary glass artists, including Ned Cantrell, Judith Schachter, Frida Fjellman and Kiki Smith.
1999-2009 – A Region Collects: The finest art glass acquired by local collectors since the first Art of Glass exhibit in 1999.
Gene Koss: Glass and metal sculptures in CAC’s Jessica Glasser and Larry Mednick Sculpture Garden.
In addition to its exhibitions, CAC offers a variety of educational programs and workshops. For a full listing or for more information, please call 757-425-0000 or visit www.cacv.org.
